Soror Sponsored Scholarship Form

2024-25 INSTRUCTIONS FOR SOROR SPONSORED SCHOLARSHIP FORM

1. Sorors will inform the Ebony Pearls Foundation of San Diego of their intent to sponsor a scholarship, by completing the form below. If specific criteria are desired, it must be indicated on the form. This form is to be submitted by the 2024 November Sorority Chapter Meeting. If submitted after this date, traditional scholarship criteria will be used.

2. Soror sponsored Scholarships will fall into the following categories: Please indicate your category on the attached form.

a. STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

(This will include Medicine, Nursing, Public Health and

Psychology in addition to other science fields)

b. STEAM: Includes all criteria in STEM, plus Arts.

c. Social/Political/Law

d. Education

e. Business/ Technology

f. Other

3. The criterion for a Traditional Scholarship includes:

a. African American or African Diaspora Female or Male.

b. 3.0 GPA

c. Involvement in extracurricular activities at school

and/or in the community.

d. 40 hours of Community Service

e. Pursuing Higher Education beyond High School.

4. The Soror sponsored scholarship is to be funded no later than the 2024 November Chapter Sorority Meeting. Upon funding the Soror must clearly indicate the amount of the funds to be used for that year. This is to ensure that the foundation has received the funds for the scholarship prior to the committee listing the scholarships on the application and to list it with the proper dollar amount. If not previously submitted, The total funding must be submitted with the form.

5. If Sorors want to donate funds for scholarships after the 2024 November Chapter Sorority Meeting, the funds will be added to those for Traditional scholarships for that year, in your or your designee’s name.
